Iaas- Infrastructure as a Service

PaaS- Platform as a Service

SaaS- Software as a Service

AaaS- Artificial Intelligence as a Service

GaaS- GPU as a Service

In the article below , We shall have a very much simplified look about the passing phases of Cloud computing to Intelligent computing to Super Intelligent Computing .

CLOUD COMPUTING

First Phase: Data on Cloud ( Infrastructure-as-a- Service)

Earlier, Data used to be saved in Floppy disc . Then in Pen-drive , And it were physically stored and transported. Then came : Data Storage on remote server (Called : Cloud. (Cloud refers to a network of remote servers that are accessed over the internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than relying on a local computer or on-premises infrastructure. The term "cloud" is derived from the way the internet is often depicted in diagrams—as a cloud representing a networked environment. )

Example: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive

We vividly remember -a Retired IRS in an You-tube interview foolishly-yet-boldly referred Cloud as something stored in the sky and that cannot be retrieved on a cloudy day..

Second Phase: Software on Cloud ( Software-as-a-Service) i.e. SaaS Model

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model where applications are hosted by a service provider or vendor and made available to users over the internet.

Example:

• Productivity Tools: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365

• CRM: Salesforce, HubSpot

• E-commerce: Shopify, BigCommerce

These both IaaS and SaaS needed a platform( base, launching pad, foundation ,stage) on which they could operate . Then came Platform-as-a-Service (develop-and-deploy environment to build cloud apps)

Example of Platform as a service: Google App Engine; Microsoft Azure App Services

All there - IaaS, PaaS and SaaS- are combinedly called - Cloud Computing.

Now Lets find a New Ecosystem Emerging ( AI Ecosystem)

1. AI (Artificial Intelligence) as a Service (AaaS)

2. LLM ( Large Language Model) - an Open Source as Platform ( base on which the AI Applications can develop) as a service

3. GPU (Graphics processing unit) as a Service(GaaS)

Now lets visit Reliance Jio

Its tuning as Amazon of US which transformed itself from book-seller to a Software company ( Amazon Web Service). Reliance Jio is like that only.

It has beautifully tied up

• With NVIDIA for GPU ( Blackwell GPU - very strong computing power) for Infrastructure - IaaS/GaaS

• with Meta For Platform ( Liama as LLM)

• And now SaaS will be replaced with Aaas( The market gets huge now for AI Application Developers).

  And Reliance will be handling it like a Super Mall where the retailers take shop to sell their products and services. Reliance Jio will be managing this whole ecosystem.

• A huge market to erupt in the field of AI Application Development. This process has got a very good name - “Manufacturing of Intelligence”.

  India should emerge as a Nation which manufactures Intelligence for the world as a whole. In my sense, India needs not go for manufacturing of goods (Next Industrial Revolution in India) and waste so much money on PLI scheme. Rather India should embark heavily on this Service-sector Revolution. Opportunities are infinite. Revenue would be mind-boggling. Let china keep manufacturing the goods. Let India keep manufacturing the Intelligence. Climate and other ESG norms shall automatically can be taken care.

The era of Cloud Computing seems to be transforming into an Era of “Intelligence computing”.

Scientific Community !! Why not graduate the name of this phase now from Cloud computing to “Intelligent Computing “.

And when Quantum Computing takes over this phase in a few years from now, then we should re-name it as “ Super-intelligent Computing” .
